Ten years ago Homeland Security was a term not in our vocabulary. Mayor Pat McCrory has led Charlotte to become one of the top rated Homeland Security teams in our nation.

Mayor Pat McCrory has been appointed by President Bush to 18-member Homeland Security Advisory Council

Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff visited Charlotte at Mayor Pat McCrory's invitation in March 2005

New Emergency Command Center established in Police Headquarters in 2003

Charlotte has received $20 million in Homeland Security Grants, only City in NC to get Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) grant funds – helped purchase one-of-a-kind mobile hospital

Citizens Corps created with Community Emergency Response Training (CERT) program to train civic organizations and neighborhood groups to be self sufficient and help emergency services during crisis situations
